So we’re taking a little bit of a gamble today and planting out the seedlings (so fingers crossed for frost free nights). But if we do, there’s still time to get them replaced in the event of a disaster.

Grown from seeds in the greenhouse Seeds seeds seeds a few months ago we have a great start with 20x climbing french beans, 40x sweet corn, 20x savoy cabbages and 20x cauliflowers.

The soil is nice a warm and still wet from the rain so even though they’re all watered in they should be off to a great start. You can’t do much about the slugs and snails but hopefully our neighbourhood of wildlife of robins, frogs and hedge hogs will keep us safe.

NB. When planting sweet corn it’s important to plant them in a block, this is because they are air pollinated. The climbing french beans are great for the bees an the cabbage good for the butterflies!
